Football: Tuff Dogs & Footy Kings Win
Two Corona League teams advanced into the first round of the FA Challenge Cup following wins over first division clubs.
Tuff Dogs 5 – Somerset Eagles 1
The Tuff Dogs have entered their names in the FA Cup first round draw, following their 5 – 1 win over the Somerset Eagles at the BAA Field.
The Somerset Eagles took the lead in the 37th minute when Dane Simmons scored, Jahmair Trott leveled the score at 1 – 1 when he scored in the 41st minute for Tuff Dogs and one minute later Shawn Brown gave the Tuff Dogs the lead, which they would take to the break.
Malachi Jones then scored a second half hat-trick to lead the Tuff Dogs to victory, scoring in the 68th, 76th, and 90th minutes.
Footy Kings 3 – Young Men Social Club 2
In the nightcap at the BAA Field, the Footy Kings edged Young Men Social Club 3 – 2.
Keishan Bean gave Footy Kings the lead in the 10th minute, Bean doubled the lead six minutes later, but Young Men Social Club pulled a goal back in the 27th minute when Nigel Williams found the back of the net, and then on the stroke of half time Young Men Social Club drew level when Giniko Butterfield scored, with the teams going to the break level at 2 – 2.
The lone goal of the second half came in the 63rd minute, Bean completed his hat-trick by converting a penalty earning the Footy Kings a 3 – 2 win.
