Roof Wetting Ceremony For Pier Six Complex
Hamilton Mayor Charles Gosling held a roof-wetting ceremony at the newly refurbished Pier Six complex today [Nov 29].
A spokesperson said, “In attendance were the Town Crier, City Council Members and staff along with numerous contractors and design services that all contributed to the improved event space. The recently completed project awaits final inspection and occupancy approval.
“The Mayor thanked the myriad of architects, engineers, designers, contractors, product suppliers, labourers and City staff that had to navigate through Covid supply chains and timelines to bring the project to completion. He noted that the project was a unique opportunity to put people back to work during the pandemic.
“The ceremony was capped off with generous pours of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum on the rooftop.
“The project began in July 2021 and upon deep inspection, the building was deemed to need a complete overhaul. Termite damage, missing and compromised lintels, and outdated infrastructure from electrical to plumbing all needed replacing.
“The new space boasts everything new from bathrooms, windows, door, roof, solar panels, AV reticulation and WiFi capabilities. A sleek and bright interior, complete with a commercial catering kitchen to accommodate preparation and plating, has transformed the space into the newest event location on the island.
“The project went through the mandated tender process. The renovation has an estimated final cost of $2.5million.

- ABM – Terry Barrow – design of the lighting and mechanical systems
