Video & Results: BBA Presidents Cup Race
28 of the island’s top cyclists took part in the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s Presidents Cup road race this weekend, with Dominique Mayho and Caitlin Conyers racing to victory.
A spokesperson said, “The event started under grey skies that eventually turned to light rain and cool temperatures for the 28 starters. Dominique Mayho prevailed over Conor White and Tyler Smith to take his sixth win in the event established to recognize the leaders of the cycling federation.
“The trio of Mayho, White and Smith lead from early in the event, breaking away on Crawl Hill and pushing through the 56 mile event to the finish on Harbour Road. Smith dropped off the lead group several times through the miles but always reeled the others back so that the finale was a sprint finish with Mayho prevailing.
“Caitlin Conyers was the first female to cross the line, finishing 7th overall. Junior Cameron Morris was poised to finish well up in the standings before an incident with a car with less than 200 meters to the finish. Thankfully he was not seriously injured and was about to remount and finish as the winner of the junior male category. Recent Junior Caribbean champion Annabelle Miller finished in 19th to win the junior female group.”
