Young Men Social Club & Dandy Town Win

Young Men Social Club and the Dandy Town Hornets both claimed victories in this weekend’s Shield & Friendship quarter-finals football action, with the two matches being decided by penalties.

Shield Quarter-Final: Wolves 3 [2] Young Men Social Club 3 [4] 

Young Men Social Club advanced to the Shield semi-final following their win over Wolves at the BAA Field.

The two teams were scoreless at the break, they would trade goals in the second half sending the match to extra-time with a score of 1 – 1.

In the extra-time period Wolves jumped out to a 3 – 1 lead, but Young Men Social Club scored twice in the final few minutes to send the match to the kicks.

Young Men Social Club will now face Ireland Rangers at Lord’s in St. David’s on Monday, December 26th.

Friendship Quarter-Final: Dandy Town Hornets 1 [4] Devonshire Cougars 1 [2] 

The Dandy Town Hornets dethroned the defending Friendship Trophy Champions Devonshire Cougars with kicks from the penalty mark after the two teams finished deadlocked at 1 – 1 after full time and extra-time at the BAA field.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, Zeko White gave the Devonshire Cougars the lead in the 93rd minute, but that goal was canceled out by Dante Scraders from the Dandy Town Hornets in the 109th minute.

Both teams went goalless for the remainder of the match resulting in the kick from the penalty mark.

The Dandy Town Hornets would advance to the semi-final where they will face the North Village Rams at Lord’s in St. David’s Monday, December 26th.
