Bascome FC will enter three youth teams in the United Soccer League Academy Cup at the Hillsborough County Tournament Sportsplex in Tampa, Florida.

Coached by Andrew Bascome, the former Bermuda coach, Bascome FC will take under-13, under-15 and under-19 teams to the tournament, which runs from March 30 to April 2.

The franchise was set to compete in the USL League Two, a development league for Major League Soccer, and play in the seven-team Mid-Atlantic Division.

However, they withdrew from the league and deferred participation because of the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Bermuda Hogges were the last local team to compete in the USL, playing in the USL-D2 for three seasons from 2007 to 2009 and USL Premier Development League from 2010 to 2012 before disbanding in 2013 due to financial difficulties.

They were founded by local businessman Paul Scope and former professional players Shaun Goater and Kyle Lightbourne in 2006.
