Bermuda College Seeks Input On New President

January 16, 2023

Bermuda College is seeking input from the community on the selection of its new president, following the retirement of Dr. Duranda Greene at the end of the academic year.

A spokesperson said, “College Board Chairman, Jerome Reid has noted that the Board is committed to “conducting an equitable, inclusive, transparent and comprehensive search that will attract a strong and diverse pool of candidates.” An important step in the presidential search is the development of a presidential profile. To assist in this effort, the Board, which is overseeing the presidential search effort, is inviting the public to complete an anonymous, electronic survey by January 20, 2023, that will be instrumental in the creation of the presidential profile.

“Additionally, members of the public are being invited to participate in one of three public, one-hour forums that will be held on January 24 at the College campus.  Participants are expected to engage in a wide-ranging discussion about the qualities, characteristics and qualifications of the new president, as well as offer input into the opportunities and challenges facing the College in the years to come.

“Last year in announcing Dr. Greene’s retirement, the Chair thanked the outgoing president for 37 years of distinguished service to the institution, noting “through her outstanding leadership, she has positioned Bermuda College, as the Island’s only tertiary education institution, to take full advantage of opportunities that present themselves, and has created a strong legacy of academic and financial progress for the institution.”

“Both the electronic survey link and details about the one-hour public forums are available on the Bermuda College website at www.college.bm.”
