Govt: False Message About Covid-Omicron XBB
The Ministry of Health said they are aware of a false message “claiming that the Covid-Omicron XBB coronavirus is different, deadly and not easy to detect correctly” and urged people to please not forward the message and “only rely on official health and Covid-19 related information.”
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Health is aware of a false WhatsApp message claiming that the Covid-Omicron XBB coronavirus is different, deadly and not easy to detect correctly. And that the Covid-Omicron XBB is 5 times more virulent than the Delta variant and has a higher mortality rate than it.
“This message did not come from the Ministry of Health, and the World Health Organisation [WHO] advises that current data does not suggest XBB is more deadly than Omicron, which itself is less lethal than Delta.
“Please do not forward this message and only rely on official health and Covid-19 related information from the Government of Bermuda’s official communications section, the Department of Communication. Again, this message is false, and the Government encourages residents to visit www.gov.bm for the latest health information.”

Imagine that. A government warning the public about false messages!
The real problem now is that the public don’t trust the Government, and rightly. It has created the perfect firestorm by their nonsensical approaches such as making people stay locked up indoors and together and not going to the beach or open air. Fines for walking the railway trail, or breaching a curfew that had to be was unconstitutional – a criminal charge with no way to provide a defence.
I too was sent this message. I view messages like this as not fully credited until it can be confirmed with CDC or the Health Dept. on the Gov’t Website. I found NOTHING on the Gov’t Site! I appreciate the confirmation by the Ministry of Health warning that these are lies.
Some people are just busybodies enjoying spreading false information. Not Mature! This is one credit I can give the Government. Thanks.

At this point the CDC and the WHO are among the last people on Earth whom I would trust.
And for the past 3 years we’ve been getting false information on Covid from the Government. SMH!
The data shows lockdowns, school closings & masks don’t work. Thank the lord that more & more people are waking up.
