Chuck Morgan has continued his development on a recent trip to Thailand – the spiritual home of Muay Thai – after becoming a World Boxing Council MuayThai certified official, coach, cornerman and cutman.
Morgan attended the Thailand Cup with local fighters Ashton Bell and Tyler Cup earlier this month and completed several courses at the Amazing Muay Thai Festival in Hua Hin.
“I’m privileged to be the first person in the Caribbean to be recognised by WBC MuayThai,” Morgan told Bernews.
“I hope my accomplishments encourage others throughout the region to grow the sport as we are in Bermuda.
“I can now host WBC MuayThai Level 1 official training and plan to host a Level 1 WBC MuayThai officials course before the end of April.”
Morgan, the head coach at Fight City Muay Thai and Fitness, was named chairman of the WBC MuayThai Bermuda 12 months ago.
He said he plans to help expand the WBC’s operation into the Caribbean.
“I’m currently working with delegates in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Barbados, and the US Virgin Islands to help bring the WBC to their islands,” he said.
“I also want to help organise the WBC MuayThai Caribbean Championships in the next two or three years. One day, I hope to bring the championships to Bermuda.”
