February 15, 2023

BHS and HSBC Bank Bermuda announced the next phase of the “She Leads: A Real World Readiness Programme” with the launch of the She Leads: A Real World Readiness Programme, Middle School Conference 2023 which will take place at BHS from March 27th – 29th from 9am – 3:30pm during the Spring / Easter Break.

A spokesperson said, “Since 2019, in partnership with HSBC, BHS has been offering a summer leadership programme to young women heading into their final year of High School. The 2019 and 2021 cohort were made up of students from BHS, Berkeley and CedarBridge and in 2022, the programme was expanded and welcomed students from the Bermuda Institute, MSA and one home school.

“In total, almost 80 young women have taken part in the programme since its inception, which has been designed to connect students across schools and provide them with a meaningful leadership and development programme. The week-long programme teaches coping skills for stress, tools to boost their confidence and strengthen their resilience, public speaking skills and ultimately builds their leadership capabilities by focusing on networking, personal strengths and character development.”

Linda Parker, Head of BHS, states, “We are now excited to move to the next phase of our partnership with HSBC by offering a ‘mini’ version of this transformational week to girls in Middle School. By imparting some of these skills and tools earlier, we can really help set these young women up for success as they move into high school and beyond.”

HSBC Executive Sponsor, Judy Doidge, added, “It has been rewarding to be a part of the journeys of 80 young women in the ‘She Leads’ programme. We continue to be grateful for the community’s support over the past 3 years and now look forward to offering this unique public-private opportunity to our female middle-school students, helping to empower them as they progress both academically and personally. Thank you to the BHS Charitable Trust for their time and commitment in delivering this meaningful programme to our community.”

The spokesperson said, “The conference will take place at BHS in the Innovation Centre from March 27th – 29th from 9am – 3:30pm each day. Preparation is ongoing, but students can expect workshops in the following areas:
