Football: North Village, Paget Lions, Wolves Win

Footballers in the FA Challenge Cup and First Division were in action this past weekend, with North Village Rams, Paget Lions, and Wolves all earning wins.

FA Challenge Cup Quarter-Final

North Village Rams 4 – X-Roads 1

At the Bernard Park, the North Village Rams defeated X-Roads 4 – 1 to advance to the semi-finals of the FA Challenge Cup.

The North Village Rams took the lead in the 6th minute when Tahmi William scored, Jaizel Smith-DeShields doubled the score at 2 – 0 in the 23rd minute, and Tre Ming would make it 3 – 0 in the 33rd minute earning the North Village Rams the three goal lead at the break.

Smith-DeShields extended the North Village Ram lead to 4 — 0, but Donovan Thompson pulled a goal back for X-Roads.

Paget Lions 7 – Young Gunz Sound 2

The Paget Lions also advanced to the FA Challenge Cup semi-finals as they defeated the Young Gunz Sounds 7 – 2 at the Southampton Oval.

Antwan Russell scored three goals in the first 21 minute as the Paget Lions jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead, it was 4 – 0 in the 27th minute when Shakir Smith scored, Young Gunz Sound pulled a goal back two minutes with Dominic Williams scoring making it 4 – 1 and that would be the score at the break.

Zaire Weller scored in the 59th minute for the Paget Lions to extend their lead to 5 – 1, Aquino Grant made it 6 – 1 in the 63rd minute, before Kushae Hypolite made it 7 – 1 in the 73rd minute, Young Gunz Sound would score the games final goal which came in the 77th minute when Lynn Emery found the back of the net.

First Division

Devonshire Colts 1 – Wolves 3

Wolves defeated the Devonshire Colts 3 – 1 at the Police Field in their First Division battle.

Antinori Butterfield gave Wolves the lead in the 17th minute scoring from close range, Keino Burch equalized for the Devonshire Colts putting the ball away from close range.

Wolves took a 2 – 1 lead in the 57th minute when Omeek Smith found the back of the net, and then in the 76th minute Somario Valasse Paul made it 3 – 1 to Wolves.
