Snooker: Warwick Workmen’s Club Two Wins
Sandys Boat Club needed just one point to be reasonably sure of retaining the league title – the only way for them to potentially lose the title, was for Watford Sports Club to defeat RAA 5-0 in their last match of the season.
Warwick captain Steven Bremar got them off to a flying start when he defeated Sandys Paul Fedden on the pink ball, 49-35.
Zane DeSilva made it 2 for Warwick when he defeated Sandys Captain, Martin Siese in the next game 64-36.
Scott Barnes continued the trend for Warwick when he defeated Sandys Peter Bromby in the 1st of 2 games on the black ball, 68-57
The rot was finally stopped for Sandys in the 4th game when Bromby narrowly defeated Barnes on the black ball 44-31.
Warwick sealed a famous victory over Sandys when Bremar and DeSilva defeated Siese and Fedden in the doubles, 57-30.
Due to circumstances beyond their control, RAA was unable to field a team for their final match of the season, which handed a 5-0 walkover to 3rd place, Watford, allowing them to tie with SBC at the top of the table with 39 points each and force a playoff to decide 1st and 2nd place.
The date for this match has yet to be announced.
