St George Corp Releases Strategic Plan Draft
The Corporation of St. George’s Town Plan Steering Committee announced the completion of their work on the Draft Strategic Town Plan and invites the public to download a copy for review from the Corporation’s website.
A spokesperson said, “The strategic plan reflects the needs of a living town that is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere, with a specific requirement to preserve its historical character while introducing modern enhancements.
Candy-Lee Foggo, the Town Manager, states that “as we near the end of this process, we encourage residents and businesses to engage in this final phase of evaluation.
“The Steering Committee has been working on behalf of the Town and sector stakeholders to collect public feedback and review professional guidance for the development of a municipal service matrix that can be drafted into a document that addresses many of the current concerns raised by town constituents and meets the business needs of the Corporation.
“The draft document is presented as a strategic plan divided into four sections so that the public can easily understand the key areas of work that the office will undertake as strategic goals. The Steering Committee looked at the following areas: quality of life for residents, the community, the business environment, and efficiency of Town services.”
Ms Foggo adds, “We are using a two-step approach to inform the public of the Draft Town Plan. We have posted the document on our website for public review and download. And then we will announce a Town Hall to make a formal presentation. Town Plans represent change. And we believe it is prudent to give people time to evaluate the changes they requested and the proposed ideas offered as solutions because the enhancements and improvements in the town require a substantial amount of work at a considerable cost. With costs being a primary concern for everyone, the Corporation may have to adjust its operating structure to meet the increased demand for services in the Town.”
