Somerset Primary School students participated in their annual Egg Drop Challenge to celebrate Easter yesterday [April 6].
Students displayed their ingenuity by wrapping raw eggs in various packaging to protect them from cracking after being dropped from a fire truck’s extended ladder into the playground.
Some of the packages had parachutes attached to them to help cushion their fall from a height of 70 feet.
Each student delivered a talk to their class, explaining why their egg would survive the drop. Students then made predictions about whose eggs had the best chances of remaining unscathed.
The event included several other fun activities, including an Easter egg hunt, where children searched for the golden egg, a spring-themed sidewalk chalk art contest, face painting, and snowball and popcorn stalls.
The children, wearing their Spring Grub Day clothes, also enjoyed flying Bermuda kites donated to the school.
