Amendments For Energy Regulatory Sandbox
“Bermuda has taken a significant step towards sustainable energy development with the introduction of the Electricity Amendment Act 2022 [Consequential Amendments] Regulations 2023,” said Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban regarding the act, which went into effect on 9th May 2023.
“This Act paved the way for introducing the Electricity [Innovative Licence] Regulations 2023 which will help create Bermuda’s Energy Regulatory Sandbox.”
“As part of Bermuda’s Economic Recovery Plan, creating an energy regulatory sandbox will encourage new renewable energy technology developers to test their products in Bermuda, allowing Bermudians the potential to access new technology. The sandbox aligns with Bermuda’s effort to reduce the energy cost to benefit our economy and the pocketbooks of residents and businesses.”
“This important milestone in Bermuda’s efforts towards sustainable energy development will encourage innovation among energy creators while ensuring grid stability and ultimately benefitting our island and our people.”
