BFA & PHC Pay Tribute To Marco Warren
The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] and Pembroke Hamilton Club [PHC] have both paid tribute to Marco Warren, a talented footballer who died following a hit and run collision.
A statement from the Bermuda Football Association said, “It is with great sadness that the Bermuda Football Association [BFA] announces the passing of Marco Warren, a local football star who as recently as April 2023 was voted the Player of the Year [MVP] for the third time during the BFA Awards Ceremony. Marco was a true icon of the game, both on and off the pitch.
“As the captain of Pembroke Hamilton Club [PHC] Zebras, Marco could often be seen leading by example, inspiring his teammates with his passion, dedication, and skill. He was a role model to many young players, and his impact on the local football community will never be forgotten.
“Marco also had the honor of representing his country, earning his debut cap for the national team on March 8, 2015, in the team’s 2-0 victory over Grenada. He was a proud ambassador for the sport, and his commitment to excellence on the field was matched by his humility and grace.

“But perhaps most importantly, Marco was a devoted father to a young son. His love for his family was evident in all that he did, and he will be deeply missed by those who knew him best.
“BFA extends its heartfelt condolences to Marco’s family, friends, teammates, and fans. We share in their grief and offer our support during this difficult time.
“BFA will honor Marco’s legacy with a moment of silence at upcoming summer league matches and changing its profile pictures on all social media platforms until Marco’s body is laid to rest. We encourage all clubs and fans to join us in paying tribute to a true rising star of the game.
“Rest in peace, Marco. You will be forever remembered as a shining example of what it means to be a true footballer, a true sportsman, and a true human being.”
In a post on their Instagram page, Pembroke Hamilton Club said, “With great sadness, we extend our sincerest condolences to the family of our Skipper, Marco Warren, who tragically passed away early Sunday morning.
“Marco was more than just a player. He was a part of our family, embodied the Zebra spirit, and was the heart of our team. Marco continually left fans in awe of his skills and inspired other players to improve. He was a humble person despite his level of greatness. When he was on the field, the “magician” just went to work.
“Marco was a loving father, son, brother, boyfriend, nephew, cousin, teammate, and true friend. He was a leader both on and off the field as he demonstrated the well-rounded individual we aspire to develop for our community. All who encountered him were impressed with his wisdom and kindness.
“Words cannot express all that Marco was. To say that he will be missed is an understatement. We have lost a piece of our soul that cannot be replaced.
“We will never forget you. Forever a Zebra. Rest peacefully Skipper,” PHC added.
