Ex-Artillerymen’s Association Donates To Charity
The Ex-Artillerymen’s Association has donated $2,000 raised through its annual Mother’s Day Brunch to Tomorrow’s Voices.
A spokesperson said, “The Entertainment Committee of The Ex-Artillerymen’s Association held their annual Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 14. Since the inception of this event in May 2017, the proceeds have been donated to charity. In past years two charities received the donation. For 2023 the Committee decided to give the proceeds to one charity, Tomorrow’s Voices.
“This year we were pleased to present the sum of $2,000 on Tuesday, May 23rd to Ms. Thea Furbert, Chairwoman and Co-Founder and Ms. Stacy Hill, Funding & Development Officer of Tomorrow’s Voices. The presentation took place at The Ex-Artilleryman’s Association located at 72 Victoria Street.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank once again everyone who attended which enabled us to give to this worthy charity.”
Entertainment Committee Chairman, Erskine Brangman; Stacy Hill, Funding & Development Officer, Tomorrow’s Voices; Thea Furbert, Chairwoman & Co-Founder of Tomorrow’s Voices and Entertainment Committee Vice Chairperson, Alicia Simmons.
A Tomorrow’s Voices spokesperson said, “Tomorrow’s Voices would like to thank the Ex-Artillerymen’s Association for the wonderful donation raised through their sold out Mothers’ Day Brunch. The funds raised will assist the charity to continue providing one-to-one critical therapy services to individuals living with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Thank you once again to the Ex-Artillerymen’s Association for their support.”
The spokesperson said, “Tomorrow’s Voices was the brainchild of two parents of autistic children, Mrs. Tricia Simons [Crow] and Ms. Thea Furbert. These parents felt that there was a need for a place that could provide hands-on Applied Behavior Analysis/Verbal Behavior services for children on the autism spectrum.
“With the help of donors, the autism community, friends, and family, their brainchild became a reality with Tomorrow’s Voices officially opening its doors to clients in October 2007.
“Tomorrow’s Voices is a Bermuda registered charity [#816] and is designed to meet the individual needs of people who are diagnosed with autism or on the autism spectrum starting at the age of two-years-old.
“Autism is characterized by severe and pervasive impairment in several areas of development: reciprocal social interaction skills, communication skills, or the presence of stereotyped [repetitive] behavior, interests, and activities. Their language-based programme provides therapy within a Verbal Behavior [VB]/Applied Behavior Analysis [ABA] environment with a maximum of 1:2 therapist-to-child ratio for our clients.”
