LGBTQ+ Insurance Network To Host Event
Link Bermuda – the LGBTQ+ Insurance Network — will host an event on May 17th to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia [IDAHOBIT].
A spokesperson said, “May 17th marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia [IDAHOBIT], commemorating the declassification of homosexuality as a mental disorder by the World Health Organization in 1990. The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia [IDAHOBIT] is currently celebrated in more than 130 countries worldwide, including 37 where same-sex acts are illegal.
“Together with Aspen, Link Bermuda – the LGBTQ+ Insurance Network will host a first of its kind event in Bermuda to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex [LGBTI] people around the world. This year’s IDAHOBIT theme is ‘Together always; united in diversity’.”
“This event will provide the opportunity to learn about the importance of Diversity and Inclusion, as well as an opportunity to meet and network with LGBT+ colleagues and allies from across Bermuda’s re/insurance industry,” said Ravi Pachai, Co-Chair at Link Bermuda. “We are grateful for Aspen’s support of IDAHOBIT.”

The spokesperson said, “Link was formed in London in 2012 with the mission to make the insurance industry the employer of choice for the LGBTQ+ community.
