Western Stars Angels kept their unblemished record intact with a narrow 11 – 10 win over Rainbows in Women’s Division action. Trailing 8 – 10 in the top of the sixth inning, Angels scored their final four runs highlighted by Keisha Eve’s three-run homer to seal the victory. Eve [5rbi] and Latoya Raynor [2 for 3] lead the assault for Angels. Rainbows had good production from Jade Weaver [3rbi] and Sherron Mills [3 for 5].

In another close encounter, PHC Zebras outlasted Hardknockz 12 – 11 behind Taznae Fubler’s [4 for 4 - 3rbi] performance ably assisted by Tahirah Hill and Stacia Ming with 2rbi each. Hardknockz scored their last 3 runs on Tache King’s seventh inning blast. King drove in six runs to lead the line for Hardknockz with Rasheen Durrant chipping in with 4rbi.

In A Division action, Moongate Brewers had a clinical win over Bermuda Bananas winning comfortably 20 – 13. Tied at 9 after three innings, Brewers put their offence in high gear scoring six runs in the fourth inning, including a grand-slam by Shawn Furlong. This proved to be all the runs they would need as Bananas could muster only four additional runs. Alex Styche [1hr – 5rbi], Furlong [1hr – 4rbi] and 3rbi from each of Kyle Steineman and Danny Cook helped pace Brewers to the victory. Mark James and Bill McClure [1hr – 4rbi] and Jeremy Estey [2hr – 3rbi] and Brett Farlow [1hr – 3rbi] were impressive, albeit in a losing effort.

In C Division action, it was a tale of mixed fortunes as a Beach Bums win coupled with a Killawhat loss saw both teams take a share of the top spot in the division. Beach Bums proved too powerful for Corp of Hamilton defeating them 18 – 5 behind Ed DeSilva’s grand-slam and 3rbi performances from Dylan DeSilva and Corey Simas. Corp of Hamilton were limited to six scattered hits.

Mike’s Trucking blew the power out of Killawhat winning 14 – 8. Braxton Stowe [1hr – 3rbi] and Mike Oliveira [2rbi] were Trucking’s best offensive players while Mike Smith [1hr – 2rbi] was the best of Killawhat, who recorded only three earned runs.

Raggamuffins made light work of Hosers winning 20 – 4. Tony Bichieri [2hr – 7rbi] and Jason Shirley [1hr – 4rbi] did most of the damage for Raggamuffins while Kit Cunningham [2hr – 3rbi] and Devon Forde [2 for 2] had respectable offensive outings for Hosers.

In D Division action, Oddballs kept pace with Bad News Beers at the top of the tables when they defeated St George’s Cricket Club 20 – 3. Tyler Bordeleau [1hr – 7rbi] and 3rbi from Jeff Chisnall and Luca Panpania highlighted a very balances Oddballs attack. Zeko Burgess [2rbi] bested all St George’s batters.

Five O’s recorded their first win in three games defeating Pitch Invaders 9 – 7. Johnny Talbot’s grand-slam in the top of the fifth inning tied the score at 6. Three more runs in the top of the sixth inning, including a solo shot by Daishun Chin, put Five O’s ahead 9 – 6. Pitch Invaders could manage only one additional run in the bottom of the seventh inning but Marcus Proctor popped up to the pitcher with a runner at second base to end the threat. Talbot [1hr – 4rbi] together with Chin [1hr – 1rbi] lead the way for Five O’s while 3rbi performances from Joshua Gilbert and Keijon Butterfield made them the standouts for Pitch Invaders.

In E Division action, BGA Hammers held on to their top spot with a 15 – 14 victory over second placed Butterfield & Vallis Sliders. Trailing 9 – 12 after the fifth inning, BGA scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, including a three-run blast by Todd Diziak and a two-run single by Marcus Johnson, to lead 14 – 12. Sliders responded with a Chris Mayne two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to tie the score. However, Justin Wall led off for BGA in the bottom of the inning and hit a walk-off homer to secure the win and maintain their unblemished 4 – 0 record. Aaron Bloom [2hr – 5rbi] and Diziak [1hr – 3rbi] were the top offensive players for BGA while Sean Perinchief [1hr – 4rbi] and Bevan Francis [2rbi] highlighted Sliders’ offense.
