In A Division action, Platano Power put down a marker to the rest of the division as they annihilated rivals Moongate Brewers 16 – 1 in six innings. They scored eight runs in the first inning including a three-run homer by Luis Adom. Brewers scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning when Charlie Potten singled to score Kyle Steineman from third base. Platano Power’s Jay Tauarez blasted a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning and they scored an additional six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory. Adom drove in three runs ably assisted by Lewis Reynoso, Yefer Vinicio and Tauarez each with two rbi. Shawn Furlong and Steineman had creditable 2 for 3 performances at the plate in a losing effort.
In Women’s Division action, Western Stars Angels continued their winning ways with a late rally to overpower PHC Zebras 10 – 5. PHC’s Tahirah Hill, Ciera Fox and Stacia Ming each drove in a run to give PHC a 3 – 2 lead at the end of the fifth inning. However, Angels exploded for eight runs in the top of the sixth inning, including a three-run homer by Keisha Eve to seal the victory. Rickelle Smith [3 for 3 – 2rbi], Eve with 3rbi and Crystal Rogers with 2rbi did most of the damage for Angels. Tawana Lee [4 for 4], Hill and Ria Grenardo with identical 3 for 4 – 1rbi records were the standouts for PHC.
Hardknockz won a hard fought battle over Rainbows 11 – 10. Sarah Robinson doubled to drive in a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning and Rasheen Durrant singled in the other run as Hardknockz took a 10 – 6 lead. However, their lead was short lived as Rainbows scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run double by Abigail Kempe, to tied the score at 10. Keishante Grant’s fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh inning drove in Mamus Emosivwe with what proved to be the winning run as Rainbows could not answer in their half of the seventh inning. Robinson [4 for 4 – 1d, 1t, 5rbi] and Durrant [3 for 4 – 1d, 2rbi] lead the way for Hardknockz while Adrienne Smatt [4 for 4], Kempe [3 for 4 – 1d, 1t, 3rbi] and Ashley Borges [2 for 3 – 1t, 3rbi] were Rainbows’ top batters.
In C Division action, Corporation of Hamilton defeated newly demoted B Division team, Hosers, 20 – 13. Shervin Jennings blasted a two-run shot in the top of the fifth inning to give CoH a 13 – 7 lead. Hosers plated six runs in the bottom of the inning, including a three-run dinger by Jack Diduch, to even the score at 13. CoH scored their final seven runs in the sixth inning, including a pair of two-run singles by Jamie Pitcher and Jennings to seal the win. Jennings [3 for 4 – 1hr, 5rbi], Pitcher [2 for 3 – 2rbi] and Rico Smith [3 for 4] lead the line for CoH. Hosers had creditable performances from Diduch [3 for 3 – 1hr, 3rbi], left fielder, Kolton [2 for 3 – 1d, 4rbi] and Justin Sasportas [3 for 3 – 1d, 2rbi].
Mike’s Trucking squeaked past Beach Bums 9 – 8. A pair of two-run homers in the fourth and sixth innings by Dylan DeSilva and Justin Corday respectively aided Beach Bums in tallying six runs at the end of the sixth inning. However, not to be outdone, Mike’s Trucking answered with six runs of their own, including two-run blasts by Brandon Ray and Carlos Lima in the fourth and fifth innings respectively. Beach Bums scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to put pressure on their opponents. However, Mike’s Trucking were equal to the task as they drove in three runs in the bottom of the inning with the final run coming off a sacrifice fly by Braxton Stowe plating Lima from third base. Lima [4 for 4 – 1d, 1hr, 4rbi] and John Outerbridge [3 for 4] were standouts for Mike’s Trucking while Dylan DeSilva [3 for 3 – 1hr, 1sf, 3rbi], Ed DeSilva [3 for 3] and Corday [2 for 3 – 1hr, 2rbi] provided most of the offensive power for Beach Bums.
It was lights out for Raggamuffins as they were dominated by Killawhat 27 – 10 in this five inning, fifteen run mercy-rule affair. The onslaught was lead mostly by Shaquille Pitcher [4 for 4 – 1hr, 6rbi], Troy Hall [4 for 5 – 1d, 1t, 1hr, 5rbi], Kyle Ball [3 for 4 – 1hr, 3rbi] and George Fubler [2 for 3 – 1hr, 3rbi]. Raggamuffins did score into double digits and they had impressive performances from Kenny DeSilva [3 for 3 – 1rbi] and Mico Coddington [2 for 3 – 1d, 4rbi].
In D Division action, Bad News Beers out-powered St George’s Cricket Club 18 – 10. Neal Cameron [4 for 4 – 2rbi], Billy Boyle [4 for 5 – 1d, 1t, 2rbi], Connor Lohan [3 for 5 – 1d, 1hr, 4rbi] and Christian Petty [3rbi] led a well-balanced Beers attack. St George’s could not sustain a sufficient enough offense to bother their opponents on the night but notable standouts were Jelani Carlington [4 for 4 – 2rbi], Troy Hall [3 for 4 – 1hr, 2rbi] and Andrew Smith [2 for 3 – 1sf, 2rbi].
In E Division action, Home None won by default over EY Bermuda who could not field a team. In the only other divisional game, Butterfield & Vallis made light work of Deloitte cruising to a 21 -1 blowout in four innings under the twenty-run fourth inning mercy-rule. Deloitte’s Alje Richardson [2 for 2 - 1d] had the only two hits of the game! On the other hand, Butterfield & Vallis feasted on their opponents pitching and made light work of their opposition. Melody Rand and Dwight Williams had identical perfect 3 for 3 records and 1rbi each, ably assisted by Marcus Johnson [2 for 4 – 4rbi] and Chris Mayne [2 for 3 – 3rbi].
