Rosewood Bermuda On Community Stewardship
Rosewood Bermuda share “several key developments in its mission to empower a resilient, thriving community that will be the foundation of a better future, from the communities that share the island, to the storied heritage sites and museums, to the beauty of the island’s natural ecosystems.”
A spokesperson said, “The resort recruits talent from underserved groups and extends support and resources to those facing barriers in their careers, while further engaging in local hiring, sourcing, and partnerships to strengthen Bermuda’s economy. So far in 2023, Rosewood Bermuda has launched a conservation initiative, promoted several key resort associates and led a months-long series of food donations to support the local community.
“On Earth Day this year, Rosewood Bermuda proudly launched the Juniper Initiative, the resort’s own conservation program designed to identify and support local organizations focused on propagating endangered and endemic species. To commemorate this momentous occasion, a ceremonial planting of a Bermuda Cedar seedling was held at the iconic 17th Fairway vista of the Tucker’s Point Golf Course. Additionally, the resort’s restaurants and Conservatory Lounge are offering a seasonal cocktail inspired by the Bermuda Cedar, a type of Juniper evergreen, one of the key botanicals used in crafting gin, to support the Juniper Initiative. This year, the inaugural cocktail is the “Juniper & Tonic”; light juniper in color, it is a balanced homage to the resort’s beautiful verdant setting and the Bermuda Cedar itself. Alternatively, the “Green Garden Cooler” mocktail offers a spirit-free refresher. For every cocktail or mocktail sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Bermuda National Trust, which plants Bermuda Cedars within the nature reserves maintained throughout the island.
“Following the appointment of Dieon Fowles as the resort’s Talent and Culture Development Specialist in 2021, Rosewood Bermuda has made strides in cultivating a highly sought-after work environment for Bermuda’s rising talent pool. In March 2023, the resort announced several key promotions aimed at accelerating associates’ professional growth, wellbeing, and personal development. Included in these promotions are Jaidah Bailey, the resort’s Front Desk Manager; Menalick Felix, Front Services Manager; Carlita Wales, Event Sales Manager; Luca Legrenzi, Event Sales Manager; and Rai Sampson, Front Services Supervisor. Ahead of the busy summer season, the resort has hired two new associates: Chantel Swan as Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator and Karim Francis as Grounds Superintendent.
“Additionally, Rosewood Bermuda recently celebrated the graduation of 17 promising associates from its Aspiring Leaders and Emerging Leaders Programs, which provides staff with the proper tools to embrace ownership, passion, collaboration, innovation and transparency and to live the Rosewood Hotel Group’s guiding philosophy – Relationship Hospitality. In contrast to traditional training, this four-month developmental journey offers a unique experience to equip associates with the management skills and knowledge needed to accelerate their careers and personal growth with Rosewood Bermuda.
“In March 2023, Rosewood Bermuda concluded a food donation drive benefitting St. George’s AME Community Feeding Project. As part of a series of monthly contributions dating back to October 2022, the resort donated food supplies valued at $1,000 per installment for a total of $6,000. This contribution is part of the resort’s commitment to partnering with local businesses and charities to strengthen the island’s economy and build sustainable livelihoods for all Bermudians.”
