BC Student Art Exhibition Opens Tomorrow
Bermuda College’s annual student art exhibition will move in-house this year in lively style with attendees invited to wear costumes of their choosing to the opening on May 19.
A spokesperson said, “Art Professor, Dr. Edwin Smith said that bringing the exhibition to campus spaces has brought a new level of energy and excitement to the students, as the Art & Design spaces, [commonly known as the ‘art factory’], inclusive of classrooms and hallways are undergoing transformation.”
“The students themselves have had a good year. There was much camaraderie and excitement. Now, however the reality of sharing the results of their hard work with the wider community, with this new, transformed exhibiting space, along with the promise of engagement with the public, has brought on a new energy and high anticipation.”
The spokesperson said, “The exhibition will feature highlights of the talents of the Associate of Art & Design programme students, and other non-programme students, over the past year.”
Eira McHugh will be graduating on Thursday, with distinction, and said: “I am very excited about this year’s show. My peers and I have pushed and challenged boundaries to create big, fresh and thrilling work.”
Ella Baldonado, also graduating with distinction, agreed. “Everybody has been working on really cool artwork for the past two semesters, and it’s been exciting watching all these masterpieces come together in one place! Pop out on May 19th!”
The spokesperson said, “Bermuda College Student Art Exhibition – Opening May 19, 5 – 7 p.m. May 22 – June 9 Monday to Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.”
