Bermuda Win 13 More Medals In The Bahamas
Bermuda swimmers took the pool for the second day of the four-day meet at the 2023 Bahamas National Swimming Championships in Nassau, where they captured another 13 medals.
Katherine Wheddon won the bronze medal in the 400 individual medley in a time of 6:00.32 in the Girls 13-14 Age Group Division, while Sam Williamson won the gold medal in the Boys 18 and Over Age Group in a time of 4:41.62.
Next up was the 200m freestyle where Tallulah Parkinson finished fifth in a time of 2:31.60 in the Girls 11-12 Age Group, Elanna Fulton won the silver medal, and Katherine Wheddon captured the bronze medal in the Girls 13-14 Age Group clocking 2:18.45 and 2:19.42 respectively.
Connor Hupman and Noah Maranzana were up next in the Boys 13-14 Age Group finishing in group with Hupman winning the silver medal in a time of 2:05.70 and Maranzana finished fourth in a time of 2:13.28. In the Girls 15-17 Age Group, Imojen Judd swam to fourth place in a time of 2:21.03 and Pippa Charleston fifth in a time of 2:21.46. Thomas Cechini won the bronze medal in the Boys 15-17 Age Group in a time of 1:59.55. Taylor White captured the silver medal in the Girls 18 and Over Age Group in a time of 2:15.51 and Sam Williamson won the Boys 18 & Over Age Group gold medal in a time of 1:56.68, with Brian Desmond finishing fourth in a time of 2:04.20 and Finn Moseley fifth in a time of 2:04.72.
The 50 butterfly was the next event with Tallulah Parkinson finishing 9th in a time of 34.21 in the Girls 11-12 Age Group. Marleigh Howes won the gold medal in the Girls 13-14 Age Group in a time of 29.61 with Elanna Fulton capturing the Bronze in a time of 30.49 and Arabella Newport Derbyshire finishing fourth in a time of 30.95. Imojen Judd went on to finish fourth in a time of 30.56 and Pippa Charleston fifth in a time of 31.59 in the Girls 15-17 Age Group. Concluding the event was Taylor White who finished sixth in the Girls 18 & Over Age Group in a time of 32.03 and Finn Moseley finished 8th in the Boys 18 & Over Age Group in a time of 27.04.
Next up was the 100 Backstroke with several Bermuda swimmers taking to the pool. In the Girls 13-14 event Elanna Fulton won the gold medal in a time of 1:12.96, Arabella Newport-Derbyshire claimed the silver medal in a time of 1:13.01, and Violet Smith won the bronze medal in a time of 1:13.30, Katherine Wheddon fifth in a time of 1:15.65. 62. Connor Hupman was up next in the Boys 13-14 Age Group winning the silver medal in a time of 1:05.68. Imojen Judd took sixth place in the Girls 15-16 Age Group in a time of 1:15.90. Taylor White won the Girls 18 & Over gold medal in a time of 1:08.90 and Finn Moseley was 8th in a time of 1:04.29.
The night concluded with the 400 medley relay where Arabella Newport Derbyshire, Katherine Wheddon, Elanna Fulton and Marleigh Howes won the gold medal in a commanding time of 4:54.45 in the Girls 13-14 Age Group and then the 18 & Over Boys team made up of Brian Desmond, Sam Williamson, Finn Moseley, and Caleb Ingham swam to a silver medal in a time of 4:06.85.
