Jet Ski Operator Rescued On South Shore
A man whose jet ski had run out of fuel was rescued by the Coast Guard on June 12..
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Monday, June 12 at 8:00pm, RCC Bermuda received a 911 call from a vessel that had just towed a jet ski which had run out of fuel on South Shore. The jet ski was taken as far as the beach at Mid Ocean Club. The jet ski operator was to arrange for fuel to be delivered, however at 9:30pm the friend who was delivering fuel was unable to locate the jet ski.
“RCC Bermuda contacted the jet ski operator by cell phone; he had left the Mid Ocean Club with a view to walking the jet ski to Devonshire Bay. He was now unsure of his exact location, fatigued and unable to continue to Devonshire Bay or return to Mid Ocean Club.
“He did not think he could be reached from ashore in his current location, thought to be near Spittle Pond. The jet ski operator was unable to find his position using his mobile phone and a police land unit and Coast Guard were tasked with searching for the jet ski. At 11:36pm, the person was located and picked up by the Coast Guard; the jet ski was left beached.”
