Students from CedarBridge Academy recently participated in a two-day math tutorial aimed to assist them better comprehend the International General Certificate of Secondary Education [IGCSE] mathematics exam. The classes were designed so that students could concentrate on areas that needed improvement while receiving personalized attention from their teachers and other professionals in the field.
The April 22 math session began with an IGCSE past paper, which was used to assess each student’s level of understanding. Following the exam, students were sent out for lunch, which included pizza, chips, and various types of juices.
The PTSA sponsored all meals and S2 Year Head, Mrs. Shoa Wolfe donated snacks. During this period, teachers and other math specialists remained in the classrooms and eagerly assessed each exam. After processing each exam paper, students were called in and assigned to different classrooms based on where they struggled the most.
Teachers and specialists from various organizations came to help with the lessons in math. They were able to provide students with a wide range of perspectives and techniques to problem solving, enabling them to build a more in-depth understanding of math. The experts were also able to supply students who required additional support with individual attention.
On April 29, the math tutorial was restructured. Instead of being separated into different classrooms based on exam results, learners were issued numbers and assigned to specific classrooms based on the number they were given. They subsequently rotated from one classroom to the next, working on different math problems based on the IGCSE examination. This allowed students to practice a range of tasks and grow more comfortable with different kinds of questions.
Overall, the math tutorials on April 22 and 29 were a success. The lessons were designed in such a way that students may address their inadequacies and gain a deeper understanding of the IGCSE math curriculum.
