CG Host Talk With Trevor Noah & Glenn Jones
Over 600 people gathered on June 10th for “Belong Everywhere: A Discussion with Trevor Noah,” an event organized by CG Insurance in conjunction with their Zest Wellness Programme and hosted by Glenn Jones.
A spokesperson said, “The audience, consisting of CG medical clients who utilize the CG Wellness Programme and CG staff members, were treated to an evening of thought-provoking dialogue and clever comedy.
“Trevor Noah, the renowned comedian known for hosting the Emmy Award-winning ‘The Daily Show’ and his memoir ‘Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood,’ is also recognized for his revolutionary worldviews and game-changing interviews.
“His mission to increase consciousness by encouraging people to question the world and themselves was at the heart of his conversation. Trevor delved into the real-life issues of today, offering a fresh perspective on purpose, community, identity, and belonging.
“Moderated by Bermudian Emmy Award-winning journalist, Glenn Jones brought his wealth of experience and expertise to the event. With a background in broadcasting and communications, and currently serving as a news anchor for Boston’s NBC10 news station, Glenn’s passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion added depth to the dialogue.
“He received a warm welcome from the crowd who were happy to see a hometown celebrity back on island, despite travel issues caused by bad weather. Glenn landed 30 minutes prior to the start of the event after his JetBlue flight was diverted, making his arrival even more celebrated.
“Together with Glenn’s community and inclusionary mindset, and Trevor’s razor-sharp wit, they sparked insights into how diversity, the sense of home, and overcoming challenges and adversity are issues all people experience. The audience was captivated as these two explored profound topics, while Trevor also noted on the calm and unrushed pace he was able to enjoy during his first time to Bermuda, which he hopes not to be his last.”
During the welcome speech given by Coralisle Group’s CEO, Naz Farrow, she highlighted that “by hosting a wellness event for our loyal members, we are demonstrating our commitment to improving the health and happiness of our neighbors, friends, and family members.
“We are also aware of the increasing challenges that individuals face in today’s fast-paced world. Stress and mental health issues have all become too common, and they take a toll on our physical and emotional well-being.
“Our Zest Wellness Program, and today’s event, aims to address these challenges by providing a platform that promotes overall mental wellness and to empower everyone to feel valued and that they belong. Moreover, this event aligns with our core values and mission as an organization to better the lives of the communities in which we live and work.”
