Yushae DeSilva-Andrade hopes to build on her recent medal win when she competes at the World Boccia Challenger in Santiago, Chile.

Andrade, who won silver at the World Boccia Cup in Montreal in May, starts her round-robin campaign today in the women’s BC1 Division.

Omar Hayward is also representing Bermuda in the men’s competition.

“I’m going to look to have fun, do my best, and not put too much pressure on myself,” DeSilva-Andrade told Bernews.

“Winning a medal in Montreal has given me more confidence going into this competition.”

The 29-year-old is looking for another impressive performance as she prepares for the Parapan American Games in Santiago in November.

She also aims to qualify for the Paralympic Games in Paris, France, next summer.

“They take your best four competitions over two years [to determine who qualifies for the Paralympics],” she added. “As long as I do well in these competitions, I should be good.”
