Photos & Video: Quinton Ming Bench Dedication
Heard Chapel Church held a bench dedication this weekend at Pig’s Field in memory of Quinton “Tiny” Ming.
Bonnie Smith, one of the church members of Heard Chapel, said, “Sadly, Bro Quinton Ming a stalwart of Heard Chapel passed way last year. ‘Bro Tiny’ as he was affectionally known, had a long association with both Heard Chapel AME Church and the North Village Community and Pig s Field in particular.
“He served as the key keeper for the site and made sure the gates were opened for parking for any overflow of functions at the Church.
“Additionally, Bro Tiny had an infectious personality that was enjoyed by all and young people in particular. Many will attest to him being a most loveable and influential coach. He enjoyed a good laugh and good clean fun. Having a bench installed in his memory will ensure his legacy will not be forgotten.
“Quinton John Augustus ‘Tiny’ Ming, a popular softball coach and devotee of Heard Chapel AME, was born on September 26, 1936. He died on November 13, 2022, aged 86.
“He was a Sunday school teacher and also served on the church’s Board. He was also a part of Sons of Allen, the Missionary Society, the Prison Ministry team and he also assisted with a transportation ministry that would collect seniors and neighbourhood children and take them to church.”
