Bermuda Cited As Destination For Barbie
Bermuda has been named as one of Barbie’s six ultra-luxury summer destinations by Forbes magazine to mark the release of the movie which pays homage to the iconic doll’s long-lasting legacy.
The Greta-Gerwig-directed film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, has raked in $337 million globally at the box office, the largest opening weekend of the year.
The Forbes article, which imagines where Barbie might head on her summer vacation, lists Bermuda as the protagonist’s first destination, staying at the Rosewood Bermuda in Tucker’s Point and enjoying “the sweeping views of Castle Harbour from the balcony of her luxury suite with Bermuda’s signature drink, a Dark n’ Stormy cocktail, in hand.
“For fresh grilled catch of the day, Barbie will love Intrepid, a popular upscale steak, seafood and raw bar located at the Hamilton Princess.”
The article describes Barbie getting around the island in a Twizy car rental and stepping back in time to “Bermuda’s ice age with a tour of Crystal Caves, and shop for local treasures at the Harbour Nights street festival.”
As for her retail therapy, Barbie would “pick up a bottle of Island Rose at Lili Bermuda, a local perfumery that was founded in 1928.”
The other destinations selected in the article were Malibu, Tokyo, New York City, Paris and London.
