Govt: Two Permanent Secretary Reassignments
Today, the Head of the Public Service, Dr. Derrick Binns, announced the reassignment of two permanent secretary posts within the public service.
A Government spokesperson said, “The new assignments are as follows:
- Dr. Jennifer Attride-Stirling – Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Labour
- Pandora Glasford – Acting Permanent Secretary for Tourism and the Cabinet Office
“These assignments become effective July 14, 2023.”
Talk about far right……….
I thought Colin Anderson was the Secretary for Ministry of Economy and Labour what happened? Work permits, passports, and status backed up. Staff leaving and a $400k system paid for by taxpayers that’s not even working. The PLP sure know how to reward the clowns. OBA you need to jump all over this and expose this circus.
BACKED UP ALL UNDER HIS TIME AS PS. MAYBE JASON HAYWARD CAN THROW SOME LIGHT ON THE TOPIC BUT THE MINISTERS WOULD RATHER LOOK INCOMPETENT AS TO THROWING A TOP CIVIL SERVANT UNDER THE BUS FOR FAILURE. THE PLP DOESN’T RUN THE ECONOMY. THE ECONOMY IS RUN BY THE PRIVATE SECTOR. THE ROLE OF THE PREMIER AND MINISTERS IS TO ENSURE WE (BERMUDA) HAVE POLICIES THAT ALLOW THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO GROW AND PROSPER. YOU DIDN’T LISTEN WHEN YOU WAS WARNED ABOUT THIS PS AND NOW IT’S ONE OF THE WORST MINISTRIES EVEN BEATING POT HOLES.
ENJOYING THE PRIVATE SECTOR.
Most Bermudians do not realize that people who fill a Permanent Secretary position keep the government going. There are the go-to people for politically appointed Ministers with no relevant job skills and experience to head a Ministry. I have had the pleasure of meeting several over the years and trust me, they carry a lot of weight on their shoulders. They are the gears that turn the wheels in government. It is a thankless job but I thank you all for your hard work.
Yes, as the saying goes, Civil Servants advise, Ministers (ultimately) decide. Translated, the ‘buck’ stops with our twelve Ministers, when it comes to accountability for government administration performance.
