American, Air Canada & United Cancel Flights
[Updated] “In light of the potential impact of the hurricane, United Airlines and American Airlines have cancelled all flights scheduled for this Wednesday,” Skyport has confirmed.
A spokesperson said, “Skyport wishes to inform the public about travel disruptions at LF Wade International Airport [LFWIA] due to anticipated adverse weather conditions resulting from Hurricane Franklin.
“Skyport and its airline partners have been closely monitoring the weather conditions associated with Hurricane Franklin, forecasted to pass by Bermuda on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. In light of the potential impact of the hurricane, United Airlines and American Airlines have cancelled all flights scheduled for this Wednesday.
“American Airlines has confirmed that flights AA9605 to and from Charlotte, flights AA1289 to and from New York JFK and flights AA825 to and from Philadelphia, scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 have been cancelled.
“American Airlines has confirmed that it will accommodate passengers affected by the cancellations, by operating the following additional flights on Thursday, August 31, 2023:
“AA9604 PHL/BDA/PHL – arrive 0915 / depart 1000
“AA9605 CLT/BDA/CLT – arrive 1020 / depart 1105
“United Airlines flights UA2392 and UA1985 to and from Newark scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 have also been cancelled. The airline has not confirmed whether an additional flight will be scheduled.
“Skyport encourages all passengers with travel bookings through LF Wade International Airport on Wednesday to contact their airline carrier to receive the latest flight updates or to explore rebooking options as needed.
“The airport is expected to remain open tomorrow. Skyport will continue to monitor weather conditions and any potential impacts on airport operations. Additional flight updates and advisories can be found on the LF Wade International Airport website at bermudaairport.com.”
Update August 30, 8.14am: A spokesperson said, “Officials at Skyport can now confirm that Air Canada has cancelled its scheduled inbound and outbound flights between Toronto and Bermuda [AC 1818/1819] for Wednesday, August 30, as a result of expected weather conditions.
“Air Canada plans to resume the regularly scheduled Toronto – Bermuda route on Thursday, August 31, 2023.”
