Patty Petty will officiate at the World Triathlon Olympic Test Event in Paris, France, this week.

The test event for the Olympic and Paralympic Games will run from August 17 to 20.

The elite men’s and women’s races will be on Thursday and Friday; the para race on Saturday, and the mixed relay on Sunday.

All four events will be at the same venue as the triathlon competition during the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris next summer.=

Petty, one of the founding members of the Bermuda Triathlon Association [BTA] in 1981, will return to Paris next summer for the Olympics and Paralympics as a technical official for World Triathlon.

It will be the first time 50 per cent of the elected technical officials at both competitions will be female.

“At Bermuda Airport heading to Heathrow and onto Paris, France, to officiate at the Triathlon Olympic test event,” Petty wrote yesterday on Facebook.

“Looking forward to working with the LOC and the World Triathlon team. Always an honour to be selected.”

Petty has attended three Olympics as a triathlon official for the international governing body [Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016] and once as a Bermuda team manager [Athens 2004].

Bermuda triathlete Dame Flora Duffy will attend the test event in Paris; however, she will not compete as she recovers from a long-term knee injury.
