Andre Lambe Aims To Shine Against Herrera

Boxer Andre Lambe insists he will be “stronger and more focused” when he returns to the ring in front of his home fans next month.
Lambe will defend his American Boxing Organisation [ABO] regional welterweight title against Mexican Sergio Herrera in a six-round bout at The Shed in Dockyard on October 28.
The Bermuda retained his belt after defeating Bryan Springs in Cleveland, Texas, on points in August; however, he admits he was far from happy with his performance.
Herrera, 26, has won seven of his nine professional bouts, defeating Canadian Adrian Bembridge by technical knockout in his previous outing in Toronto in March.
“I didn’t think I was nowhere near my best [against Springs],” Lambe told Bernews. “I wasn’t even close to where I can be.
“I need a fight to give me a challenge. I don’t want to go through the motions.
“Bermuda hasn’t seen my full potential yet. I have another level that people haven’t yet seen. Hopefully, Herrera can bring it out of me.”
The 28-year-old, who also holds the American Boxing Federation regional welterweight crown, said he is determined to end the year on a high note and believes “big things” are in the pipeline for next year.
“I haven’t taken a break since my last fight,” said Lambe, who has won all nine of his pro contests.
“I’m looking to push for something big next year. Maybe a junior world title of some sort.
“I’m keeping ready for when the big challenges come my way. If I keep doing what I’m doing, I know the hard work will pay off.”
The southpaw said he has made the necessary alterations inside and outside the ring as he prepares for Herrera.
“I’ve dialled back on things I’ve needed to change lifestyle-wise and doubled down on my training,” he added. “I’m stronger and more focused than ever before.”
