Annual Swizzle Festival Set For October 8th
The annual Swizzle Festival is set to take place on October 8 at Barr’s Bay Park, “bringing visitors and residents together to celebrate the iconic national cocktail that has influenced Bermudian culture for generations.”
A spokesperson said, “On Sunday, October 8, 2023, the picturesque harbour-side setting at Barr’s Bay Park will come alive for the return of the second annual Swizzle Festival, bringing visitors and residents together to celebrate the iconic national cocktail that has influenced Bermudian culture for generations.
“Like the island itself, the Bermuda rum swizzle is a delightful blend of colourful flavours that pack an unforgettable punch [pun intended]. This year’s festival will see a collective of Swizzle makers exhibit a myriad of traditional, unique, and innovative interpretations of the classic Bermuda Rum Swizzle. Patrons will have the opportunity to taste and purchase beverages at the city’s edge waterfront location, enjoy sounds by top Bermuda DJs, and divulge in the savoury food options available for sale by local vendors.”
Tashae Thompson, VP of Experiences, Bermuda Tourism Authority, said, “The annual Swizzle Festival is not just a celebration of our beloved cocktail, but a toast to the confluence of traditions, flavours, and the community.
“As Rum Swizzle is synonymous with an authentic Bermudian experience, we are excited to showcase our swizzle creators again in a festive atmosphere, bringing together our visitors and residents alike.”
The spokesperson said, “Research shows that today’s savvy travellers crave unique culinary and immersive experiences that authentically connect them with local cultures. This homage event to our delicious blend that has been globally replicated but has yet to be duplicated, connects visitors with Bermuda’s rich culinary culture, highlights talented local mixologists, and supports our local food and beverage community.
“This year’s festival will debut the inclusion of restaurants, which will enhance the mixture of experiences offered to patrons and give local and visitor favourite hotspots a platform to showcase how they have come to embrace the island’s beloved national cocktail.

“Admission to the Swizzle Festival is complimentary to locals and visitors but is restricted to attendees 18 and over. Tokens will be available to purchase Swizzle samples and full-sized cocktails. Patrons are encouraged to bring cash with some vendors offering card transactions.
