Kayakers Event To Raise Money For SCARS
Kayakers and paddleboarders will complete a loop of the island this weekend to raise money for a child sexual abuse prevention charity.
The eighth annual Kayak for Kids event is in aid of Saving Children and Revealing Secrets [SCARS].
Forty-four kayakers, including two corporate relay teams [Team Liberty and Team Fidelis], and one paddleboarder have registered for the fundraiser. They will be followed by several support boats and jet skis, including the Bermuda Coast Guard.
The 40-mile route starts at Somerset Long Bay Beach at 8 am on Saturday [September 30] and finishes at Clearwater Beach in St David’s, from where participants will begin on Sunday at 8 am and return to Somerset Long Bay.
Funds raised by corporate sponsorship and individuals will support Scars’ training and awareness activities.
Donations can be made at www.scarsbermuda.com or by visiting kayak4kids.bm.
