Boarding Schools Fair To Be Held On Oct 8/9
The annual Boarding Schools Fair Bermuda, featuring leading boarding schools from the UK and Canada, returns for its 10th year this October.
A spokesperson said, “For the tenth year, leading boarding schools from the UK & Canada will return to Bermuda at the beginning of October for the annual Boarding Schools Fair Bermuda – the largest and most targeted event for those considering a boarding school education in Britain or Canada.
“As well as sharing a King, Britain and Canada also share the heritage of having world class boarding schools. Like the institution of Monarchy, many of these schools are centuries old and have peculiar traditions, but they have also adapted to the fast pace of the changing world, and continue to be at the forefront of global education: their academic excellence, extra-curricular opportunities and pastoral care are second to none.
“A boarding school education offers unrivaled opportunities – inside and outside the classroom – but each school offers something quite unique and it is hoped that the fair will help Bermuda parents find the ‘right fit’ for their children.
“Admissions staff from 10 schools, from across Canada and Britain, will be at the fair and look forward to meeting Bermuda families who might be interested in a boarding school education.
“The schools at the fair have opportunities for all Bermuda students: many are traditional full boarding schools for students aged 13-18; prep schools, for children aged 10-13, are an option for parents who might like their children to be prepared for top senior schools. Especially attractive for many Bermuda families will be UK State Boarding Schools, which enable a British passport holder to go to boarding school at a fraction of the cost – around £15,000 per year.
Maggie Roberts, Director of Admissions at Lancing College, in Sussex, says “I’m really looking forward to visiting Bermuda again. We’ve had the privilege of welcoming Bermuda pupils to the school for several years and have always been impressed at how fantastically well they’ve settled into school life.
Patrick Nobbs, Enrolment Manager at Lakefield College School, Ontario, agrees, “Canada has always been a firm favourite for Bermuda families, offering a safe North American boarding school education for Bermuda students.
Connie Engelbrecht, of The Royal Alexandra & Albert School [a State Boarding School], is keen to remind Bermuda parents that affordable options are open to all families: “As a State Boarding School, we can offer Bermuda families all the opportunities of a great boarding school education, but at a fraction of the cost.
The spokesperson said, “The Boarding Schools Fair Bermuda takes place at the Hamilton Princess, on Sunday 8 October [1.00-5.00 pm] & Monday 9 October [4.00-7.30 pm].
“The Fair will begin with two short presentations, which will give an introduction to boarding schools in the UK and Canada.
“Entry is free and parents can register at www.eventbrite.co.uk.”
