DeSilva-Andrade Wins Silver Medal In Chile

[Updated with video] Yushae DeSilva-Andrade has won a silver medal in the boccia women’s individual BC1 division at the Parapan Am Games in Santiago, Chile, today [November 22].

DeSilva-Andrade final’s round-robin encounter was against Brazilian opponent Andreza de Oliviera in a battle for gold.

The Bermudian, who had won her first two pool A matches, lost the thrilling match on a tie-break.

“Hey everyone, so I lost my game on a tie-breaker 3-3, but I’m bringing home the silver!” DeSilva-Andrade wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Omar Hayward placed 4th in the men’s individual BC1 division after losing to Brazilian José Chagas de Oliveira 4-3 in the bronze medal match.
