The W.E.R. Joell Memorial Tennis Tournament opened Monday at the W.E.R. Joell Memorial Tennis Stadium, with top-seeded players recording straight-sets victories in the early rounds.
In the Ladies A Division, Chloe McBrearty advanced with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Terceira Lee.
In the Men’s A Division, Wayne Montgomery defeated Hugh Seymour 6-0, 6-1 in Group One. In Group Two, Tariq Simons beat Florez Mariano 6-0, 6-0, while Zachary McGuire recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win over David Gravier.
In the Men’s B Division, Group Two results saw Will Britten defeat Florez Mariano 6-0, 6-2, and Darren Woods beat Osenotse Phenyo 6-0, 6-0.
In Group One, Adam Grasso defeated Riley Maybury in three sets, 6-7, 6-4, 10-7, and Donn Trott beat Chris Grasso 7-6, 6-0.
