Football: Devonshire Colts & PHC Zebras Win
Devonshire Colts and PHC Zebras both claimed victories in this weekend’s Friendship & Shield semi-finals football action.
Shield Semi-Final
Devonshire Colts 3 Boulevard Blazers 1
The Devonshire Colts came from behind and defeated the Boulevard Blazers 3 – 1 to advance to the Shield final at the Devonshire Recreation Club.
Khiry Easton gave the Boulevard Blazers a dream start when he found the back of the net in the 1st minute, they would take that 1 – 0 lead to the break.
Jaquari Paynter drew the Devonshire Colts level one minute into the second half, Rahzir Smith-Jones gave Devonshire Colts a 2 – 1 lead when he converted from the spot in the 75th minute, and then one minute from time Anthony Smith found the back of the net for Devonshire Colts to earn the 3 – 1 win.
Friendship Trophy Semi-Final
PHC Zebras 3 North Village Rams 0
The PHC Zebras have advanced to the Friendship Trophy final following their 3 – 0 win over the North Village Rams at the Devonshire Recreation Club.
Enrique Russell gave the PHC Zebras the lead in the 21st minute when he flick over a defender and caught the North Village Rams goalkeeper by surprise from a distance. They would take that 1 – 0 lead to the break.
T’Ysi Showers doubled the PHC Zebras lead in the 58th minute, Showers raced cross two North Village Rams defenders and beat the keeper to his left.
Joshua Joseph would make it 3 – 0 to the PHC Zebras in the 75th minute, Joseph flicks the ball around a defender, before running inside the box and slamming the ball pass a stranded goalkeeper.
