Nicholas Christopher To Play Lead Sweeney Role
Bermudian actor Nicholas Christopher will step into the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street after superstar singer Josh Groban completed his 46-week run in the Broadway musical.
Understudy Christopher, who usually appears as rival barber Adolfo Pirelli, will play the Victorian villain barber in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s landmark musical at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre until February 8.
Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit will play Sweeney from February 9 for a 12-week limited run.
The ensemble cast includes Nicholas’s brother, Jonathan Christopher.
