Bermuda Dance Academy Shines In Chicago

Students from Bermuda Dance Academy “delivered outstanding performances and achieved remarkable success” at the Adrenaline Dance Convention and Competition in Chicago.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda Dance Academy, a leading dance school, showcased its exceptional talent and artistry at the prestigious Adrenaline Dance Convention and Competition held in Chicago, IL, from February 8th to 12th, 2024.

“The academy’s National Performance Team, comprising nine dancers, three teachers, and 13 family members, delivered outstanding performances and achieved remarkable success at the event.

“Under the guidance and leadership of owner, head teacher, and choreographer Nikia Manders, Bermuda Dance Academy’s dancers, teachers, and parents collaborated to ensure the academy’s resounding success at the competition. The National Performance Team’s exceptional performances gathered accolades, with routines earning scores ranging from High Gold to Platinum across all categories.

“Competing against numerous schools from the Chicago area, some of which brought up to 200 dancers, Bermuda Dance Academy’s talent and dedication stood out, earning well-deserved recognition.

Highlighted Achievements:

1. “Party Time” – Tap Mini Trio

  • Choreographer: Shawnae Brangman
  • Dancers: Tessanne Williams, Nia Cross, and Riley Evans
  • Score: High Gold, 10th in category

2. “Unlocked” – Contemporary Junior Duo

  • Choreographers: Makalya Wilson and Nikia Manders
  • Dancers: Savannah Denkins and Tjaia Butler
  • Score: High Gold

3. “Trendsetter” – Jazz Junior Trio

  • Choreographer: Nikia Manders
  • Dancers: Sanziniah Raynor, Savannah Denkins, and Yannick Rochester
  • Score: High Gold

4. “Keep Rising” – Modern Junior Small Group

  • Choreographer: Nikia Manders
  • Dancers: Sanziniah Raynor, Savannah Denkins, Yannick Rochester, Tjaia Butler, and Aanya Mills
  • Score: Platinum, 8th in category, and recipient of the Judges Choice Award

5. “Bouncin” – Hip Hop Junior Small Group

  • Choreographer: Ashley Smith
  • Dancers: Sanziniah Raynor, Savannah Denkins, Yannick Rochester, Tjaia Butler, Aanya Mills, Tessanne Williams, Nia Cross, and Riley Evans
  • Score: High Gold

6. “Drop It” – Hip Hop Junior Solo

  • Choreographer: Ashley Smith
  • Dancer: Sanziniah Raynor
  • Score: Platinum [highest scoring dance of the competition]

“Sanziniah Raynor’s outstanding performance also led to her selection to perform in the City Crew and receive a Video Crew scholarship. Additionally, Yannick Rochester, Tessanne Williams, Riley Evans, and Aviya Mills were awarded Single Convention scholarships for the upcoming season.

“Our young talent Aviya Mills, age 6, participated in the convention and received a scholarship to attend next year, demonstrating the academy’s commitment to nurturing emerging dancers.
