Column: Hayward-Bell On OBA, Credibility

The Progressive Labour Party [PLP] finds the recent op-ed by OBA Deputy Party co-Chairman Joseph Marable curious.
In a recent op-ed, OBA Deputy Party Co-Chairman Joseph Marable referred to “studies by the Bermuda Government Accountability Office.” Unfortunately for Mr. Marable, no such office exists.
This raises a larger question about the credibility of the One Bermuda Alliance [OBA] and their fitness for government. If they blatantly lie to the public by making up studies and making up a government institution, how can we trust them to govern this country?
This is an issue of honesty, this is an issue of credibility and this is an issue of competence. They are clearly exhibiting dishonesty but they are also displaying incompetence because, assuming that this was a mistake, no one in the party was able to catch it.
The cadence of the op-ed has us wondering if they may have used ChatGPT to write the op-ed and they clearly didn’t check their work. Is this the kind of performance you can expect from the OBA if they become government?
In conclusion, to the OBA, we ask this: were you being dishonest or incompetent in this op-ed?

Anyway, how can we trust the PLP to govern this country? They got us into this mess and have no plan to get us out. But there is a Bermuda Public Accountability Board. It was created by the PLP Government in 2011 by the Bermuda Public Accountability Act 2011.
Getting a one word of a name wrong should be embarrassing, but to say that it constitutes a “blatantly lie to the public by making up studies and making up a government institution” seems over the top.

It seems to me that the man’s error actually highlights that there NEEDS TO BE a Bermuda Government Accountability Office because whatever currently exists ISN’T WORKING!
