DWD Offer Heavy Truck Driving Training Course
“As part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to build a resilient workforce and provide opportunities for Bermudians to pursue their goals, I am happy to announce this heavy truck driving course being offered through the Department of Workforce Development”, explained the Minister of Economy and Labour Jason Hayward.
“This course allows participants to obtain a heavy truck license to enhance their credentials and employability opportunities in the trucking industry, and I encourage anyone interested to apply.”
A Government spokesperson said, “To be eligible, you must be Bermudian, able to commit to 3 or 4 day and evening training sessions, and possess:
- A valid car driver’s license
- A clean driving record
- A TCD medical certificate valid for three months.
“Registration is through the Bermuda Job Board until 8 February 2024. An open information session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on 15 February 2024 in the Department of Workforce Development training room.
“For more information, contact the Department of Workforce Development at 297-7714 or email jdbutterfield@gov.bm.”
The PLP Government wants to train Bermudians to be heavy truck drivers? Really?
I do not recall seeing that in any PLP manifesto in the past 60 years.
Only 3 days to get the medical certificate?
