Troy University Trip ‘Concluded On A High Note’

The recent visit from officials from Troy University resulted in a number of meetings and “the whirlwind trip concluded on a high note.”

Kim Swan said, “Last week during a 49 hour whirlwind visit to Bermuda, our country, through the Bermuda College, was formally connected with a global university – Troy University – with educational schools equipped to meet our needs:

  • Hospitality
  • Tourism
  • Nursing
  • Risk Management
  • Sports Management
  • Social Work / Psychology

“These areas of study our society is in dire need of expertise.

“On arrival to Bermuda, Dr Jack Hawkins and his contingent met Diallo Rabain and learned that there were two young dual enrolled high school students accepted into Troy University to study nursing and biology, acting Minister Michael Weeks formally announced at a Troy University reception hosted by the U.S. Consul General at the residence of the U.S. Consulate in Bermuda.

Senate President Joan Dillas Wright – A Nurse First

“An emotional Senate President Senator Joan Dillas Wright at a private welcome dinner hosted by retired Justice Norma Wade Miller revealed that she had long been trying to forge a relationship for young Bermudians to be trained in nursing, seized the opportunity and pledged a generous donation to support Troy University’s school of nursing attract young Bermudians.

“The presence of hoteliers Bushara Kamal Bushara from Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa, Tim Morrison from Hamilton Princess, and Stephen Todd of the Bermuda Hotel Association provided direct access to Troy’s educational resources with a global presence.

“Prophetically, responding to an invitation from Tim Morrison the Troy contingent visited Hamilton Princess Hotel, witnessed the celebration of the newly trained Red Seal Bermudian Chef and met Minister of Labour Hon. Jason Hayward.

Sandy’s Secondary Signature High School for Hospitality Training

“The whirlwind trip concluded on a high note when Mrs Valerie Dill, the Chairman of the Sandy’s Signature High School for Hospitality, reached out after learning about the Troy University on the radio. The opportunity for tangible partnership exist in a real way and we must thank the Bermuda College, Troy Trojans University, and the U. S. Consul General and her office.
