Photos: Tabata-Ha Karate-Do Kite-Making Event
The Tabata-Ha Shotokan Karate-Do held a kite-making event, resulting in 15 kites crafted and a competition held.
A spokesperson said, “The Tabata-Ha Shotokan Karate-Do recently held a kite-making evening. Our aim was to teach the younger generation how to make a traditional Bermuda kite as it is a tradition we must keep alive.
“The Independent Club [IDC] donated their time and expertise, as well as the kite frames. Students and their families gathered and picked their frames and tissue paper and under the watchful eye of the IDC they began creating their beautiful designs.
“Fifteen amazing kites were made and to see them all displayed was amazing. We also had a competition where three judges, after a hard deliberation picked the winners. Maiya Caisey and her mom came first, Khwai Mendoza and his mom came second, and Inara Todd and her mom came third.
“A good time was had by all and we were most appreciative of the assistance from the IDC.”
