Jake Brislane Wins Bronze In Grenada
[Updated with video] Jake Brislane has won Bermuda’s first medal at the Carifta Games at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St George’s, Grenada, yesterday [March 30].
Brislane claimed bronze in the under-20 division 1,500 metres, breaking the four-minute barrier for the first time, finishing in 3min 58.83sec.
The 19-year-old finished behind Jamaican pair Kemarrio Bygrave [3:58.10] and Jaquan Coke [3:58.38] in a race where the top three runners were separated by a mere 0.7 seconds.
Brislane claimed bronze at the Carifta Games in Nassau, the Bahamas, last year, placing third in the 5,000.
A number of other Bermuda athletes were also in action. Lashee Jones finished 17th competing in the Under 17 Girls 100m Preliminaries clocking 12.75, while Pria Wilson finished 21st with a time of 13.02.
During the Under 17 Girls 400m Dash Preliminaries, Amaris Munya finished 12th clocking a time of 59.89, while Jaeda Grant finished 7th in the Under 18 Girls 1500m stopping the clock in 5:11.58.
Miles Outerbridge finished 14th in the Under 17 Boy’s 100m Dash Preliminaries clocking 11.34. Denver Tucker competed in the Under 20 Boys 100m Preliminaries finishing 14th with a time of 10.76, while Norre Robinson finished 20th clocking 10.97.
Daylen Scott was Disqualified from competing in the Under 17 Boys 400m Preliminaries, Jayson Simons would finish the Under 20 Boys 400m Preliminaries 25th clocking a time of 52.49, while Seer Carey was 27th stopping the clock in 54.14.
Gianluca Bortoli finished 12th competing in the Under 17 Boy’s 1500m Final clocking 4:44.10, while Cameron Adkins finished 13th with a time of 4:55.34.
J’Auza James clocked a time of 11.80 finishing 13th in the Octathlon Boy’s 100m Dash, James would finish the Octathlon Boy’s Long Jump, in 15th with a leap of 5.30m, and then in the Octathlon Boy’s Shot Put saw James finish 10th with a top toss of 9.79m
