Saundre Simmons Hungry For More Wins

Bermudian boxer Saundre “Dash” Simmons says he is hungry for his next opponent after defeating Marcell Sams Jr in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the weekend, insisting: “Bigger and better guys are on the menu!”
He hopes to make a swift return to the ring after making quick work of Sams with a first-round knockout to extend his professional record to three straight wins.
American Sams [1-10] rose to his feet after being canvassed but showed little interest in the fight continuing, with the referee waving off the contest after 2min 19sec.
Simmons has only completed one of the 12 scheduled rounds from his opening three contests, beating Jayvone Dafney inside one round in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, last month and stopping Tre Baker in the second stanza in Charlotte in December last year.
“I’d like to showcase myself a little more, but it’s all part of the process,” Simmons told Bernews. “Once I get through these low-level guys, I’ll be able to show the world what I can do.
“Bigger and better guys are on the menu. I’m ranked in the top 30 [in the United States], and I’ve sparred with several of the top five guys in my division.
“I’m going to let my team handle things, but I’m ready for what’s next. I’m back in the gym already – there are always things to work on.”
Although his fight with Sams was short-lived, Simmons believes he still learned some valuable lessons.
“He’s an orthodox fighter, but he came out as a southpaw and caught me by surprise,” the cruiserweight added. “I’m glad I experienced that early. It was short and sweet. I probably let him feel my power too soon.
Born in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Simmons was raised by his Bermudian parents in Somerset before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, with his mother when he was 12.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful amateur career, placing runner-up at the USA National Boxing Championships in Louisiana and the Golden Gloves of America in Oklahoma in 2021.
