Saundre Simmons Wins By Stoppage

Boxer Saundre “Dash” Simmons won his third straight fight after stopping Marcell Sams Jr in the first round in Charlotte, North Carolina, yesterday [March 2].
It appeared to be a glancing left hook that dropped Sams [1-10], who rose to his feet but showed little interest in continuing, with the referee stopping the contest after just 2min 19sec of the four-round cruiserweight contest at the Labcity Sports, Training and Events Centre.
Simmons has now won all three of his bouts in the paid ranks by technical knockout.
His other opponents were Jayvone Dafney, who he beat inside the first round in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, last month, and Tre Baker, who he stopped in the second stanza in Charlotte in December last year.
“It was a good performance and camp,” said Simmons, who trains at the Bone Breaker Gym in Morganton, North Carolina.
“There’s always something to work on no matter how short the notice of the fight. I’ll look at the footage and go back to the lab.”
Born in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Simmons was raised by his Bermudian parents in Somerset before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, with his mother when he was 12.
He enjoyed a successful amateur career, placing runner-up at the USA National Boxing Championships in Louisiana and the Golden Gloves of America in Oklahoma in 2021.
