Bermuda School Of Music’s ‘Summer Concert’

The Bermuda School of Music will present ‘Summer Concert’ featuring the Bermuda Chamber Choir & Orchestra with the Bermuda School of Music Youth Choir on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15 at St. John’s Church in Pembroke.

A spokesperson said, “Marjorie Pettit brings us another exciting concert which features a wide range of well loved choral repertoire. In addition to Haydn’s Creation, the programme features works by Mozart, Handel, Simon and Garfunkel, Michel LeGrand, Spirituals and more.”

Mrs Pettit says, “The combined choirs of seventy performers has singers ranging in age from eight to eighty! It is encouraging for me to see how well they merge, and how impressively the newly initiated are inspired by the experienced members of The Chamber Choir.”

Kevin Lee – Tenor

Kevin Lee April 2024“Singaporean Tenor, Kevin Lee a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor of Music [BM] in Classical Voice holds the Intermediate Vocal Recital Certificate from Trinity College, London.

“Kevin has debuted with the Singapore Lyric Opera [SLO] and OperaViva. His performance highlights include work with the Singapore Lyric Opera in celebration of Singapore’s Golden Jubilee at the Botanic Gardens, and the role of Bastien in Operaviva’s production of Mozart’s ‘Bastien und Bastienne’. Kevin was awarded the 3rd Prize at the 8th Tan Ngiang Kaw/Tan Ngiang Ann Memorial Vocal Competition, and won 1st Prize at the NAFA Vocal Competition.

“Kevin is currently pursuing a Master of Music [MM] Degree in Classical Voice, at The Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Joan Patenaude-Yarnell.

Fernando Watts – Bass

Fernando Watts April 2024“Barbadian Bass-Baritone Fernando Watts most recently made his debut with the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar in Weimar Germany as Sarastro and The Sprecher in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’ under the baton Olaf Storbeck and directed by Damon Nestor Ploumis; his 2022 season consisted of two significant debuts as Il Commendatore in Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’ as well as Harasta in Janáčeks ‘Cunning Little Vixen’ with the Chautauqua Institution. A graduate with a Bachelor of Music from The Manhattan School of Music, studying with Ruth Golden, Mr. Watts performed in ‘L’enfant et Les Sortilèges’ by Ravel. Mr. Watts is also a sought-after recitalist and concert/oratorio artist having recently performed the solos in Faure’s ‘Requiem’ with The Church of St. Lukes and St. Matthews in Brooklyn, NY under the direction of Wilden Dannenberg. Mr. Watts is a well-known interpreter and specializes in repertoire and performance practices of Black Composers.

“Mr. Watts is finishing his M.M degree at The Manhattan School of Music, where he studies with Baritone Sidney Outlaw. He is the recipient of the Birgit Nilsson Scholarship and the Tabor Foundation Scholarship. Mr. Watts will graduate in 2024 from The Manhattan School of Music.

Madison Fitzpatrick – soprano

Madison Fitzpatrick April 2024“Native to the small town of Hanover, MA, Madison is a Classical Soprano, Illustrator, and Writer with a fascination for the ancient world. Madison has performed notable roles such as Helena [A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Britten], Elle [La Voix Humaine, Poulenc], Lauretta [Gianni Schicchi, Puccini], and Alcina [La Liberazione di Ruggiero dall’isola d’Alcina, Caccini]. Currently, she is helping to bring the new work “Madeline Usher” by Philip Roberts to life as the title role. She is currently obtaining her Professional Performance Diploma from the Manhattan School of Music with Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. She also obtained her Masters of Music at MSM, and her Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory, just like her Great-Grandmother before her.
