BermudAir Teams Up With EcoSpirits
BermudAir has been selected as the first airline partner for global brand ecoSpirits.
A spokesperson said, “Operating from offices in the UK, US, Asia and Australia, ecoSpirits has developed the world’s first low carbon, low waste packaging and distribution system for premium wine and spirits.
“Local companies Bermuda Gin Company, which has a Licensed Operator Agreement with ecoSpirits, and Goslings are also partners in this collaboration. Bermuda Gin Company and Goslings products being served on board BermudAir flights will now be supplied to the airline using ecoSpirit’s ecoTOTE format, a reusable packaging and serving system that significantly reduces waste and carbon emission impacts on the environment.
“Currently active and working with clients worldwide in 27 countries, ecoSpirits states its brand partners have seen 95% less waste of glass and cardboard in their venues, and a 60 – 90% reduction in their carbon emissions footprint in terms of packaging and distribution.”
“We are honoured to be the first airline partner worldwide for this innovative sustainability-focused company and its initiatives,” said Adam Scott, Founder and CEO of BermudAir.
“We’ve been conducting responsible, practical in-cabin operations with sustainability as a priority since launch. It’s a very important commitment for our team and the company. Using single-use plastic is minimised on board and we serve our guests with reusable glassware. We employ ethical and efficient waste disposal practices. Even our crew uniforms are made from comfortable, long-wearing recycled textiles from a supplier dedicated to helping the aviation industry reduce its carbon footprint.
“So, this partnership with ecoSpirits, and our colleagues at Bermuda Gin Company and Goslings, is a natural step in our continued commitment to operate with sustainable principles across the organisation as much as possible and wherever the opportunity arises.”
Roy Fellowes, Founder & CEO of Bermuda Gin Co., said, “From the start the BermudAir team have been terrific to work with and we are delighted have our Pink House and White Roof gins available on the inflight beverage menus. Sustainability is a high priority for BermudAir so they immediately embraced the opportunity to receive our gins in a format that reduces waste, reduces carbon emissions and supports environmental cleanup. It seems fitting that as Bermuda was the first small island nation to engage with ecoSPIRITS, BermudAir is the first airline in the world to do so. Two important firsts for ecoSPIRITS and the island of Bermuda.”
“Goslings is fortunate to have partnered with BermudAir since their launch,” said Ambrose Gosling, Managing Director, Goslings Brothers Ltd. “From our initial discussions it was clear that sustainability is a top priority for the company. It was also evident that they are willing to rethink industry norms to ensure fulfilling this commitment is not at the expense of quality or service. Our recent collaboration with ecoSPIRITS and the reusable ecoTOTE format therefore became a natural extended partnership opportunity. Goslings takes great pride in BermudAir being selected as the first airline partner for ecoSPIRITS, and that its passengers can now enjoy a sustainable Dark n’ Stormy at 35,000 feet.”
Paul Gabie, CEO, ecoSPIRITS, said, “BermudAir is the first airline worldwide to take up the challenge of eliminating single use glass in onboard beverage service. The launch of this creative new partnership shows what is possible in an entirely new use environment for circular packaging. We are grateful to BermudAir for their sustainability leadership and to our great Bermuda-based brand partners – Bermuda Gin Co. and Goslings – for their ongoing support and collaboration.”
