“An application for planning permission has been submitted by the Ministry of Public Works for the replacement of the Government House roof,” a Cabinet Office spokesperson confirmed today.

A Government spokesperson said, “The public will recall that late last year, Her Excellency the Governor, Rena Lalgie and Government House staff were relocated from the official Langton Hill location to a temporary space due to the need for urgent construction works.

“Pending planning approval, it’s anticipated that the works at Government House will commence soon after. The Ministry of Public Works will manage the planned refurbishments and oversee the project.

“While these works are taking place the Governor will continue to reside at a temporary location.”
